Cordell Schachter

Cordell Schachter is a seasoned technology executive and cybersecurity leader, currently serving as CIO Advisor and Principal at Riverdale Advisors, where he counsels organizations on digital transformation, workforce modernization, and secure adoption of emerging technologies.

Previously, he was the Chief Information Officer of the U.S. Department of Transportation (2021–2025), overseeing a $3.5 billion IT portfolio and driving AI, cloud, and cybersecurity modernization across federal infrastructure.

‍

Before his federal role, Cordell served as CIO of the NYC Department of Transportation, spearheading smart city initiatives such as the city’s Bike Share and e-Scooter Share programs, and leading emergency technology responses during Superstorm Sandy and the COVID-19 pandemic.

He has also taught Civic Technology for Innovation at NYU, bridging public sector challenges with cutting-edge digital solutions.

Cordell holds a Master’s in Management from NYU Wagner School, a BA in Economics from SUNY Buffalo, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
