Cordell Schachter

Cordell Schachter is a nationally recognized technology executive with more than three decades of experience leading digital transformation across government and enterprise.

As Chief Information Officer of the U.S. Department of Transportation, he served as the principal advisor on information technology, cybersecurity, privacy, and digital modernization, overseeing a $3.5 billion IT portfolio supporting one of the nation's largest civilian agencies.

‍

Prior to his federal leadership role, Cordell spent 26 years in New York City government, including more than 13 years as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Officer for the New York City Department of Transportation.

‍

 During his tenure, he led technology initiatives that modernized transportation systems, digital services, mapping platforms, mobility programs, emergency response capabilities, and public-facing infrastructure supporting millions of New Yorkers.

In addition to his public sector leadership, Cordell has held technology leadership roles with IBM, AT&T, Siemens, and Avaya, giving him a unique perspective across both government and industry.

A frequent speaker on AI, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and civic innovation, he has also taught graduate courses in civic technology and project management at NYU and Saint Peter's University, and serves as an advisor and mentor to the next generation of technology leaders
